‘George Dickering OC 98459 Master of “Constance” 86936

By the official Report dated 15th August 1885 of a Court of Inquiry held at Edinburgh into the stranding of “Constance” Official Number 86936 on Borkum Island 21st May 1885 the Court found the Master George Pickering, in default (careless navigation) and suspended his Certificate of Competency Ord Master Number 86936 for three months from 15th August 1885

Mr Pickering having appealed against the above findings and decision, the Lords of the First Division Court of Session Edinburgh 27th November 85 sustained his appeal and recalled the decision of the Court of Inquiry at Edinburgh, in so far as it finds that the appellant was in default, and suspends his Certificate - Appellant expenses allowed.

By the Official Report dated 24th July, 1893, of a Court of Inquiry held at Cardiff into the loss of the “Countess Evelyne”, Official Number 83985, through collision with the “City of Hamburg” Officer Number 81436, off Trevose Head, Bristol Channel, on the 13th May 1893, the Court found the master of the “Countess Evelyne” in default, and suspended his Certificate of Competency as Ordinary Master, Number 08865 for six months.
