(B) - Agreement for Home Trade

Articles similar to those for first half of 1860

‘Amounts of Wages per Calendar Month, Share, or Voyage’ were entered for the crew (excluding the master

which was usual).

.

Mate

£3 5s

Seamen

£2 15s

Ordinary Seaman

£1 10s

Boy

£1

Provisions identical to first half of 1861

N.B. It may well be that Edward Anyon wrote up both of these returns. In the articles (list B) all ‘signatures’ seem to be crosses with the names written either side except for Edward Anyon, who obviously signed his own name. The rest of this document looks to be in the same hand. The articles were written and signed on 4th January 1861. The half-yearly return (list D) was obviously written some time after George Preston Anyon’s death and probably in July 1861 at Newport, but also appears to be in the same hand as the earlier document.
