Examples of Greenwich ‘Out Pensions’ paid to past representatives of the Lower Deck
Source: PRO: ADM 73/123 - Ratings - 1797 Michaelmas Quarter
Of a series running from 1781 to 1801 these volumes are compiled by muster entry number. Apart from individuals’ names, if any information is given this generally shows those discharged dead and sums of money paid out (although these are comparatively few). Often, but not always these sums were ‘signed for’, although most being illiterate ‘made their mark’ instead.

One in a series of almost 200 volumes relating to 1814 to 1846, these are compiled by date of entry and some sort of numerical sequence. So, if one already has an approximate date, then entries can be found.

This is one of two volumes relating to compilation between 1863 to 1869. The cataloguing is rather confusing, as the index forms the other volume of this series (ADM 73/64). I have asked the PRO to amend their catalogues.

This is one of 300 volumes dealing with army, navy (and marine) pensioners for the period 1842 to 1862. They are bound up according to the administrative districts (including some within the Empire) payments were made to. They are split into sections of differing types of records, but the most useful genealogically are the monthly returns. References to Greenwich are in red. It should be noted that these only show changes in pensioners’ status, these are not rolls of those receiving pensions.
Within the monthly return ‘of changes which have taken place among the Out-Pensioners of Chelsea Hospital, in the Bath District, from the 1st to the 31st October 1848, inclusive’ under the section dealing with ‘Pensioners transferred from the District; is:-
