Examples of Candidates for Promotion to Commissioned Rank

or further, as Commissioned Officers

Source: ADM 6/180 - Lieutenants (and masters) 1814-16

This is an abstract of memorials of midshipmen and other candidates for lieutenant, applying for promotion. It would seem that this was originally numerically indexed, but this is apparently missing. There can be some interesting pieces of information in these entries, so at least for those where there are spaces in their careers, or doing in depth research, this might be worth trawling through.
