Gentlemen, WHEREAS the Bearer hereof, Mr John Robinson has made Application to the Lords Commiffioners of Admiralty that he may be examined touching his Qualifications to perform the Duty of a Lieutenant in His Majefty’s Navy; I am commanded by their Lordfhips to fignify their Directions to you, to proceed to examine him accordingly; and in café it fhall appear to you that he has ferved Six Years as Midfhipman, has been rated Two of the faid Six Years as Midfhipman, or Mate, in fome of His Majefty’s Ships; and that he does produce regular Journals, and good Certificates from the Commanders he has ferved with, of his Sobriety, Diligence and Qualifications of an Able Seaman; and that, upon your own Examination, you find he has attained a fufficient Knowledge, both in the Practick Part and Theory of Navigation, and you fhall be fatisfied that he is not under Twenty Years of Age, you are then to give him a Certificate, expreffing therein his particular Qualifications. |

IN pursuance of Orders from the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, dated 25th November 1874, and in accordance with the Regulations in Circular W. No. 54, dated the 24th December, 1868, we have examined Navg Sub Lieutenant Henry J. Heane as to his knowledge of the under-mentioned Subject, in which he has obtained the following Numbers:- |
