The limitations of ‘word’ as a programme does not lend itself to heavily formatted
documents in a landscape format. There were also reports on general conduct;
ability; professional knowledge (specifying and particular branch); whether of
temperate habits; special knowledge (languages, drawing &c.); remarks
mentioning any special defects or high qualifications as regards zeal,
judgement, physical qualities, &c., and if recommended for advancement; and
name of officer who made the report(s).
He received VGs
for conduct, ability and professional knowledge. He is stated as knowing French
and German; was zealous and reliable; as well as showing tact and good
judgement with men.
