Pensions awarded to Commissioned Officers for wounds

These records are part a long series relating to the Naval Estimates and are filed by year. Although not nearly as neat as another series (stretching to 1815) that appear to be copies of the final products submitted to Parliament for consideration, they give similar or identical information.

As an example for 1806 under ‘Pensions and Allowances to Sea and Marine Officers Comifsioners of His Majesty’s Navy their Widows and the Relations of Sea Officers’ are examples:-

Please note that these entries are found in the same registers as pensions for Widows of Commissioned Officers killed in action or, as a consequence of naval service in the following volumes. Also, it should be noted that often it is simply not possible to see from these records whether pensions have been awarded for being killed in action, or for wounds. So, it is suggested that these should only be searched after locating pensions from other sources, such as the Naval Estimates (see above).

Internally indexed at rear of ledger, with a wounded officers category. There is little actual info other than financial, although these entries do at least confirm that officers had been wounded.

It is not possible to identify pensions specifically for officers awarded pensions for wounds. (Experiments in attempting to trace officers definitely known to have been wounded have not resulted in finding pensions.)
