The entries in this single ledger are entered roughly alphabetically and chronologically. Within this volume is at least one entry of an ‘inferior’ warrant officer, namely a master-at-arms.

Gunner. Lavinia: for disobedience of Orders, neglect of Duty; Dismd the Ship and recommended to be appointed to another not likely to be employed in active Service. Vide C.M. 4 Aug 1801

 

Wylie...Robert

Master. Swallow for having been repeatedly drunk on Deck in his Watch. Dismifsed from Active Service. Vide C.M. 17 April 1801

These ledgers are arranged according to rank and chronologically. Some entries are difficult to read, although after getting used to the handwriting this may become easier.

 

Mr Wm Gilmore - Surgeon of the Favourite - Continual intoxication having rendered him incapable of performing his duty - Dismifsed from the Service. See letter from Transport Board 11th march 1814 - including copies of one from Captain Maxwell of the Favourite and of one from Mr Wm Gilmore
