Examples of Warrant Officers’ Surveys

These were returns apparently made by local area commanders and seem to reflect all those concerned on all vessels there. There are three volumes of these. They do not appear to be in any logical order, so these are records for those wanting possible additional information on individuals. And, while some local commanders have included a paragraph on each man, others have only given the minimum required. So, if one then already knows on what vessel an individual was then serving, it is possible then to find him. Otherwise, searching these volumes could be very time consuming indeed.

Loose papers - printed and formatted letters sent out and returned. There can be a great deal of interesting information especially relating to present conditions, in the covering letters. It can be seen that these were educated men.
